My top 6 Adidas books

Today I would like to introduce you to my 6 coolest Adidas books

6th place: adidas - LET THE GAMES BEGIN, 2008

  • Year of publication: 2008
  • Number of pages: 180
  • Language: English

This 2008 book was only given to adidas employees and partners and was never commercially available. The book is about Olympians from the Games from 1928 to 2008 who were equipped by Adidas (or the Dassler brothers). The 180 pages feature countless photos of original shoes, most of which were worn and signed by Olympic athletes. You get a great impression of how many competitive athletes trust and have trusted Adidas and how wide the range of special shoes is.

5th place: adidas - THE STORY AS TOLD BY THOSE WHO HAVE LIVED AND ARE LIVING IT

  • ISBN: 978-3-00-030125-4
  • Year of publication: 2011
  • Number of pages: 643
  • Language: English

A brand book that was not published in official stores also came in fifth place. However, the book is about the entire history of adidas. The eventful history from 1920 to the present is traced in great detail on over 600 pages. In between there are always interesting interviews with athletes and partners of the company. There are also lots of posters and removable pictures in the book. Sneaker fans don't get their money's worth until the end of the book. There are a few pages there with photos of some legendary 3-Stripes kicks.

A real heavyweight also lands at number 4 in the ranking. Adidas opens its legendary archive for this book. Over 350 pairs of sneakers and competition shoes are presented on 644 pages. Including many rare models and prototypes. A (much cheaper) paperback edition of the book has now even been published (ISBN 9783836591072).

3rd place: TRUE ORIGINALS: AN OG ADIDAS SELECTION BY A FAN

  • ISBN: 978-3-946688-17-4
  • Year of publication: 2017
  • Number of pages: 195
  • Language: English

Third place goes to a book that was not published by a major publisher or by Adidas itself, but by a normal Adidas fan. Marlon Knispel collected the money for his passion project in 2017 through crowdfunding. For supporters there was a special edition of the book with a really cool deck of cards. The book is very elaborately designed and the pictures are highly professional. You can just tell that a fan is living out his passion here. The focus is primarily on basketball and tennis shoes from the 70s and 80s, and the Superstar series is examined in detail.

Second place for a real treat: This book introduces Adidas collectors and their great sneaker collections. Fantastic vintage sneakers on xxx sites, no frills. A must for every Adidas collector. It's just a shame that I don't have the first part.

1st place: ADIDAS SHOES: CITY SERIES

  • Year of publication: 2016
  • Number of pages: xxx

My personal number 1 is a 3-part book series. In the 3 books, Adidas' legendary city and country series of the 70s and 80s is (almost) completely cataloged. Each book represents a continent (Europe / North America / rest of the world and islands). In incredible detail, an infinite number of images and catalog scans were collected, organized and published in these ingenious books. Even for me, as a big Adidas fan, there were still some completely unknown models in the books. An absolute dream for collectors.
