Andre Agassi: Nike Air Tech Challenge Series

In 1989, Nike produced the Nike Air Tech Challenge II for tennis star Andre Agassi. The shoe in its mega-eye-catching color combination ("Hot Lava") reinforced Agassi's image of the bird of paradise and became a gigantic marketing success.

In parallel to the shoes, Nike also released matching shirts and (denim) shorts with sewn-in nylon cycling shorts.

In the following years, Nike released further models of the Air Challenge II, as well as two successor models, the Nike Air Tech Challenge III and IV.

In addition, dozens of Challenge Court shirts, shorts and tracksuits appeared in the following years.

Since 2008, many of the models have been released again and again as retro versions and have now become real rarities themselves. Even some of the shirts have been reissued.
